I got this harness because I have Ehlers-Danlos and I lose my balance easily as my joints can slip at any time. I can use the middle handle to catch my balance or to have Joker brace to help me out of a chair or off the floor. The D ring works great with a 12 inch lead so he can pull my wheelchair with it. Joker loves this harness and eagerly wears it. He is a Rottweiler mix. My only complaint is the 2 D rings need to be in the front so I use the handle. In the back I do not have as much control as I would like. For me it made the handle a waste of money. |

| I got this for my GSD to help me with balance. It worked well for me--but it cut into the sides of my dog because you must strap it on really tight in order to make sure it is stable on your dog's back. My dog would run away when I would get it out and cry when I put it on--I thought he was just not used to it, but after rubbing him down one afternoon I discovered some very large scabs behind his elbows. It is unfortunate because the harness seemed to work pretty well (for me) but was clearly hurting my boy. It is difficult because I purchased the pack and extra handle for it and I am currently in college and cannot easily pay for a custom made balance harness from Texas. This design needs to be improved upon immediately because the current one also places ALL the person's weight on the dog's spine--which is not good for the dog's back. If it is activedogs who designed this harness I'd be happy to work with them on something more ergonomic and comfortable for the dog who is going to be wearing it all day. | ||||

I purchased this harness because I have balance problems. You modified the length of the handle since the standard length was to low for my use. It came last night and both Steady, my service dog, and I are delighted with it. The materials are of excellent quality. And I find it so helpful to use. Thank you for your kindness. I purchased this harness a few weeks ago for my mobility service dog. The harness is very sturdy - The handle is virtually unbendable (I suppose if you REALLY tried, you may be able to bend it, but putting normal weight on it, it doesn't budge at all in any direction). I think they said it's all leather, but as sturdy as it is, it feels like there's steal in the handle, whatever they do with the leather works. One of the other reviews mentioned that the straps cut into the dogs chest causing discomfort and sores. To avoid this problem, I purchased the washable sheepskin strap covers and they defintely are well worth the few extra bucks. I can see how this harness could be uncomfortable for the dogs without them. With them, my dog does not seem to have any issues. I first put the harness on her without them to see how it fit, then added them - it looked more comfortable with them on and she seemed happy with the addition of the nice soft covers. I purchased two for the front girth strap and will be purchasing two more for the back girth strap as well. The strap covers that I got are pretty thick - they do change which hole I use when buckling the straps, so if you're at the max end of a size range, be really careful with measurements! |
